Tattoos are employed as a means of adornment, its most important function. It is performed by pricking parts of the body by needles after washing them with a blue solution. Gypsies, who frequented this region, were the ones who used to perform it. It was also performed by certain barbers.

The parts mostly tattooed on females are the visible parts of their bodies, such as the face, hands and arms. Males frequently tattooed their hands and arms. Some youths of today, particularly sportsmen, tattooe themselves on the back and the chest

Figures tattooed include one or two swords, a sword and two palm trees, a bride, a lion, two doves with a heart, two hands, flowers, fishes and so on. However the use of tattoos has decreased at present.
