Al-Madbassah Square

Al-Madbassah Square in the Old City of Bethlehem is near the Lutheran Church and in front of the Salisian convent. The Square lies on top of a hill which constitutes to the old city of Bethlehem. A very old dowry that made of cotton, embroidered in silk and covered with Turkish coins. Extended from the side panels are silver chains to which are attached pieces of amber and silver. Headdress (Shatweh)

Worn by women of the Bethlehem area. The front is covered with rows of coins, beads and coral. The shatweh was only worn by married women and widows.
