Once the private home of a member of Jerusalem’s prominent Nashashibi family, this beautiful building in Sheikh Jarrah now offers exhibitions, performances and activities to the public. Director Bashir Barakat’s favorite activity is delving into dusty archives to uncover the history of the city and its families. He has written several books on the topic (in Arabic) and is at work on another, in addition to compiling a list of manuscripts in the center’s holdings. If your roots are in Jerusalem, this is a good place to start. Original Content Creator: Nashashibi Center for Culture and Literature
