Introduction

Al Sanabel Center for the study of the Palestinian popular ( folk ) heritage ( Palestinian traditional culture ) was established ( 1996) in seir , a town with historic significance located about 6 km northeast of the city of Hebron . The center is registered with the Palestinian ministry of information under the number 11/ MA .

The center fulfills important needs in Palestinian society :

*Collecting and distributing theoretical materials related to the Palestinian popular ( / folk ) heritage ( / Palestinian traditional culture ) .

*Doing educational and social studies ; making academic and public opinion surveys ; and performing economic functions .

* Gathering materials important for establishing a museum for the Palestinian popular ( / folk ) heritage ( / Palestinian traditional culture )

* Documenting episodes in Palestinian popular memory ( / folk tradition ) so that they will not be forgotten

* Holding exhibitions , festivals , symposiums and workshops on the Palestinian popular ( / folk ) heritage ( / Palestinian traditional culture )

/ Publishing a dictionary of folk ( / traditional ) proverbs and translating it into foreign languages .

*Coordinating with other Arab and foreign heritage ( / folklore ) research center in order to achieve our common aims

* Producing and distributing special films about the Palestinian popular ( / folk ) heritage ( / Palestinian traditional culture )

* Publishing an encyclopedia of folktales .

Because of the special role the center plays in Palestinian land with a rich heritage of traditional culture throughout its many towns and villages it has been legally recognized as national institution ( national resource ) under the number 2645 – M / H / L.4 . 1998 .

Al Sanabel Magazine , A Heritage Publishes

Al Sanabel magazine is published quarterly by Al Sanabel Center and specializes in the study of the Palestinian popular ( / folk ) heritage ( / Palestinian popular culture ). The magazine operates under the number 74 / M in the Palestinian Ministry of Information ; its editor is Edris Jaradat along with ( a board of ) editorial consultants .

In coordination with the National Palestinian Committee for Education , Culture and Science , the center has been officially adopted as one of the clubs of UNESCO. It works to realize the aims and goals of UNESCO and the Islamic Organization for Education , Culture and Science and Arab Culture and Science .

The Departments ( / Organization ) of the Center

The center includes the following departments : popular Heritage , divided into separate archives; Study and planning ; public Opinions; Legal; Information; Training; Administrative and Financial Adaptation; and public Relations . It also contains a library .

The Centers Activities

The Sanabel center organizes workshops, political , symposiums and festivals . It held a symposium on tribal JUDGMENTS UNDER THE PALESTINIAN Authority under president Yaser Arafat.

The center has many honorary certificates.
