Olive wood carving products are the most important souvenirs from the Bethlehem area. In the Turkish times, the Franciscans brought the trade to Bethlehem, which is using the supply from olive trees from the vicinity of Bethlehem and sometimes from farther away. The craft is usually transmitted from father to son.
