The Fourteenth Annual Artas Lettuce Festival (2008)
submitted by Artas Folklore Center

The Fourteeth Annual Artas Lettuce Festival took place in Artas from April 10-13, 2008 and was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture. The Festival parters were

However, the lack of sufficient funding led to a curtailment of many planned activities, and hindered pre-festival publicity. Nevertheless, the festival was well attended, thanks to cooperation by other institutions and individuals. The flyers and advertisements of the Center of Jerusalem Studies, who organized a trip to the Festival for the second year in a row, played a big part in helping to spread the word. The festival included Folklore and Drama performences, a Farmer's market, home-made food items, embroidery and craft sales, hikes, children's activities and more. The festival was covered in a variety of articles, TV programs and blogs.
